The heart's feeling so full right now. Made plans to host a baby shower for the bff despite it being my birthday. But I thought "I truly just wanna give and make someone's day no matter what" never expecting that at the end of it, I would be the one feeling so happy! Today's a day to remember not just cos it is one where I turn 36. But rather, it is remembered for the good news shared by these dear ladies. It is also one where I realized that seeing my close ones experience happy milestones would also bring lotsa happiness to me. Last but not least. It is also a day in which I see my little family - the husband and Sarah - earnestly choosing to spend the day with me. From the time I found something hard lodged in my pillow before I went to sleep yesterday night, to discovering that the husband hid his birthday gift for me inside my pillow (!!) and a simple birthday sliced cake right before midnight. 😍 My heart is full, alhamdulillah!

Sarah turns exactly 8 months today. Time flies! Now I understand what the other parents meant when they say kids grow up very fast. . She is at a stage where she is curious about everything. Grabbing her hands on anything she finds unique and hasn't seen before: tissue paper, plastic bottle, the tupperware cover, remote control, her nappy cream, etc. I save loads of money through not buying toys in this way 😁. I just give her something in the house and she loves playing with it. . She has started saying "mum mum" and "memmm" whenever she wants to eat. I believe those are her first words that she associate to an action. All that aside, I have officially declared to the husband that it looks like we would see Sarah calling "mama" first as the sounds "mum mum" and "memmm" is just a stone's throw away from "mama"!

Here's the last big project that made my 2019: my baby girl, Sarah. . She came out on 8 May 2019 which corresponded to 3rd Ramadan. I did not know how contractions felt like and thought I had eaten something wrong during my pre-dawn meal before beginning my Ramadan fast. . Little did I know, those pains in the abdomen weren't my tummy having the runs but rather contractions! I held on for quite a few hours thinking it was merely diarrhoea pains! . We ended up arriving at the hospital so late that I almost gave birth inside the car enroute to the hospital! . Post-partum was rough for me. After being discharged two days later, it was only Sarah and I alone at home taking care of ourselves. No confinement nanny. No parents around to help either. I still shudder remembering those days. . Today, things have changed. As the months passed, her presence in our lives gets more entrenched. She is one lively, cheerful, chatty baby! I love the times I bring her out, just the two of us. I love too when we took her travelling with us. She was with us at every single trip we went to - JB, Putrajaya, KL, Batam, UK. You name it. She is always there with us. . I'm still doing lots of trial-and-error as a mom. Made mistakes too. This motherhood thing is not just a big project for my 2019 but my whole life too!

Throwback, 14 April 2019. This was the next big project that made my 2019: being pregnant! . Pregnancy, with its highs and lows and its in-betweens, was a beautiful experience. It was so precious that I had guarded the experience close to myself. Not many knew I was expecting as I didn't start showing until way in the third trimester. . Running around here and there settling the house while pregnant AND working a fulltime job where I had 4 graduating classes to prep for was what consumed the first half of my 2019. And then the prep for the baby... All these things happening concurrently was exhausting. I remembered falling asleep albeit with a heart feeling so full 😊 as soon as my head hit the pillow every single night. . Truly, I feel so grateful. When I first knew I was pregnant, I felt a sense of disbelief and thought perhaps I had misread the pregnancy testkit. But as the truth settled in and I began to slowly sense the flutterings of life moving inside me, I started to feel such immense gratitude. I'm so grateful and feel so, so humbled that I got to experience this journey! . Feeling so thankful also to those people around me - family, friends, colleagues, and even my students - who were nothing short of kind to me during that time. I firmly believe that their kindness has been what kept me going through the pregnancy.

As raw as it gets, this was my bedroom on 1 Jan 2019. The husband and I decided to move into our unfurnished apartment just 2 or 3 days before this cos I truly wanted to start 2019 in our new house. . Devoid of furniture, I'd bought this clothes railing from Qoo10 which was delivered very speedily and hence we were able to quickly set up residence there. . It wasn't until April that we finally had other essentials like the sofa and dining table. And this part of the house? The wardrobes weren't installed until May! It was truly a hectic 5 months of going to so many places to scout for items for our apartment. . Posting this photo for the memory as it represents one of the big projects, amongst others, that I was dealing with in 2019. It's one that required lots of patience (and money!) cos setting up a home involves a lot of hard- and heart-work!

Exactly a year ago on the 7th of July, we made the leap of faith towards marriage. So today being our one year anniversary, I think the husband has finally earned himself an Instagram badge to mark his presence in my social media feed, amidst my family and bffs. 😄😄😄 Here's stamping the 7th of July for the record. May Allah grant both of us and other married couples out there many more years of marriage with each other filled with contentment. Amin!
